Jenny Yates has been writing fiction for several years and has had some success in short story competitions.  She became interested in playwriting when she joined Oldham Coliseum’s playwriting group.  After giving up her day job and moving to Cumbria, Jenny joined North Cumbria Scriptwriters.

 

Jenny was delighted to have her play, ‘The Person Without’, produced at the 24 7 theatre festival in Manchester.  In a very hectic week the play was performed five times, by an enthusiastic cast of three.  A preview at Staveley village hall was attended by members of North Cumbria Scriptwriters, who gave writer, director and cast much useful feedback.  Jenny is hoping to have her play produced at other venues.

 

The 24 7 theatre festival asks for submissions of new plays between 45 and 60 minutes long.  Jenny would recommend the experience to anyone interested in having a play produced and being part of a vibrant festival.  However, if accepted you have to be prepared to produce your own piece, finding director and actors.
