I was born and brought up in South London.

I studied Drama at Hull University, where Antony Minghella (Truly Madly Deeply, The English Patient) was my tutor and Phillip Larkin (The Whitsun Weddings, the rude one about parents) was my librarian.

I have taught drama in various different places, including children’s homes, a remand centre, a Performing Arts Academy and adult education classes.

I have written short stories and poetry, but mostly plays for the theatre, murder mysteries and pantomimes (oh yes I have!). Also, an account of the summer of 1987, when I set off from Tower Bridge and cycled 4,200 miles around the coastline of Britain.

Currently, I am working on one full-length play and co-writing some stories for children’s books and television. My play "For All Time" will be shown at the Theatre-by the Lake, Keswick, as one of the 2009 summer season shows from July to October 2009.

I live in a small village in Cumbria with my wife, two children, two dogs, four hens, thirty-two sheep and my parents-in-law. Probably some spiders and mice as well, but I haven’t counted them.
