Robin Acland attempts plays for stage and radio.

 

Film and television are well beyond his understanding. He has been with the group for six or seven years now, always enjoying their company, engaged by their writing and learning from their comments. The nearest he came to any success was in a Theatre by the Lake competition for a play with a Cumbrian theme. His tortuous drama about poet John Keats walking the Lake District in 1818 and the attempts of a freelance heritage consultant to cash in on the 2018 bi-centenary reached the last three (out of 33). He favours real historical characters: astronomer Johannes Kepler and poet W H Auden are two more who have been worked over bruisingly.

 

Having spent all his life in education, he seriously lacks exciting experiences to draw on, of course.
